Whole30|Week 1 Recap

Whole30|Week 1 Recap

Here is a short recap of week 1! Below you will find pictures of my meals for the week, along with a direct link to the recipes. Let me know if you try any of them!!!

DAY 1 – DAY 3

The good thing is I had meal prepped for the entire week, so everything was set, and ready to go. Of course, the first day I was in it to win it and felt amazing. Around lunch on Day 3, I was kind of like how am I going to do this for 30 days non stop. I remember watching someone hold a taco bell cup and I watched that cup until it was out of my sight. I didn’t realize what I was doing, had to snap out of it. Anytime I felt hungry, I would eat especially since I’m breastfeeding as well. I made sure to snack on pistachios, salad’s, and my fave … carrot cake lara bar!

O M G. I was doing so good Thursday until I went to go visit my brother. Now, anytime I go to his house I ransack their kitchen and for some reason, I always come when they order food. When I walked in I saw the Chinese food and shrugged it off like and just knew I would find something whole30 compliant. W R O N G … W R O N G … W R O N G. I kept pacing back and forth freaking out because I was so hungry. And I finally found some plantain, but the oil they had contained soybean oil! I was shot down and my heart was totally broken because I really thought I was about to enjoy that sweet sweet plantain. Luckily, there was some chicken in the fridge which I ate with jalapenos and I remembered that I had a salad in my lunch bag. All was good after I ate, but man I was really rethinking this whole30 thing … LMAO~!

DAY 5- DAY 7

Smooth sailing for the most part. I was dealing with a lot of cravings, but I didn’t cave in. I mean I’ve done diets before similar to this and you just feel better all around. I am nervous for this week coming up because on other plans I have a dessert here and there. So wish me luck!

Hello WHOLE30.

Hello WHOLE30.

Well, the time has come, if you follow me on Instagram you have seen my post about doing the Whole30! I literally took notes as though I was taking a class, ha.

I first heard about the Whole30 last year late December. I saw a couple of girls that I used to do CrossFit with, post about how they were starting in January.  You guys already know that I am on a mission to get back in shape … so of course, the next thing I did was do some research on exactly what the Whole30 was all about. And here is a short summary of what I gathered …

Melissa and Dallas Hartwig’s Whole30 program is meant for us to reset our health and change our relationship with food. During this program, you are going to eat a lot of fresh foods and say goodbye to all the processed stuff such as … soy, legumes, sugar, artificial sweeteners, dairy, grains, and alcohol. Getting rid of these foods allows your body to heal and be nourished, you are hitting the reset button and changing your relationship with food. Now foods you can eat are meat, veggies, eggs, seafood, healthy fats, and fruit. A few benefits that I’m looking forward to are less inflammation, clearer skin, a boost in energy, a healthy metabolism, a happy gut, and the B I G one … hormonal harmony!!!

One huge thing that stands out to me about this program is if you are hungry then eat! There is no measuring or calorie counting your food, just eat what is allowed and you’re good to go. This program can be a bit complicated, but if you have a set plan and are determined then this program is most definitely possible.  I must warn you though, there are no cutting corners. If you cheat, you’re supposed to start again at day one no exceptions.

And another key thing, this is meant to be a lifestyle change, not a diet. Now I do see this as a diet for myself, so I am hoping at the end of these 30 days that I get more out of this. I want to see if my relationship with food will change in any way and if this is something that will be incorporated in my lifestyle.

I highly suggest reading the It Starts with Food, along with the 30-day guide. And if you want more information just go here. Let me know if you have any questions or have already decided to start the program!

Oh, and I have finally set aside time to take before pictures along with measurements! Take a look here.
