Collagen. The latest supplement craze on the block, well to me anyway. I keep seeing and hearing about collagen and not in a science book either. Have you been noticing that this is the new “trend” lately? Well, I have, and I decided to go ahead and give it a go.
I would literally just scroll and tap past stories and finally decided that I would actually look into it and see what its all about. So, I wanted to share it with you to encourage you to also start incorporating this into your diet if you choose to do so.
What is collagen?
Collagen is made up amino acids’ arginine, glycine, hydroxyproline, and proline which are vital building blocks of our bodies. These amino acids assist our body’s connective tissue (skin, hair, and nails) stay as healthy as possible. Collagen is the main structural protein of different tissues that are found in bones, hair, joints, nails, and skin.
Collagen gives our skin it’s elasticity, hair and nails strength, and it holds everything in place. Now this is made naturally, but after the age off 30 the production of collagen in our bodies decreases naturally. So, as a result our skin becomes more fragile and less elastic, our hair loses its color, and man … our joints aren’t as flexible, and bones may start losing their density.
There are some awesome benefits to adding collagen to your diet which in turn made me decide to go ahead and try it out as well. What are those benefits? Well let’s get into that. I’ll share the benefits that convinced me to go ahead and give it a go.

So, for the past month I have been using the Vital Proteins collagen peptide and I can honestly say that the main reason why I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE using this product is because of the taste. It is flavorless, so I can basically put it in anything I please to.

Now what am I getting from this?
Taking this product has helped me mainly with my joints and growth of my nails. If you’re not a new reader to my blog, then you know the issues that I’ve had with my hip and how Whole30 helped alleviate the pain. My diet is clean, but I enjoy myself when I want to. Adding Vital Proteins has helped with the aches. I’m even thinking about getting some for my mom when I place my next order.
Y’all when I wake up in the morning I don’t have to roll over a certain type of way to get out of the bed, literally experiencing no pain. My workouts are only going to get more intense now that I’ve lost weight and finally got my mojo back, so I’m happy I have found something to support my joints more.
